On Michael Jackson's Death

LIFE IS ABOUT LIVING, LOVING, LEARNING, AND LEAVING A LEGACY

"You don't get a choice how you're going to die or when? You can only decide how you're going to live now." - Joan Baez quotation

Do you believe that you will live for 120 years? Who can say he or she will not die? You are lucky if you reached 120 years of age. According to Wikipedia Encyclopaedia, the average life expectancy as of year 2008 is estimated to be around 70 years, in Japan it is 81 years, while the longest is in Andorra about 83.5 years. The undeniable truth is – we will leave this world, whether you like it or not.

On June 25, 2009, the world was shocked by news that Michael Jackson has passed away – due to a cardiac arrest or heart attack, at the age of 50. He had left us, the whole world, with musical legacy. The internet was suddenly flooded by traffic all about Michael Jackson as if a virus is crawling the internet and most of the popular social networking sites like twitter and facebook were almost overloaded.

One of the things that caught my attention while watching the news is the interview to his closed friend Uri Geller, who said: Michael is a very lonely person. The irony here is that: Michael Jackson, who is a legendary man, the king of the pop music, very popular, the idol of many, who was able to reach the highest plateau of his dreams and financial success, yet he was still full of loneliness. If that will be my situation when I become rich, I don't wanna be reach. I believe that loneliness, in one way or another has something to do with his death even thought it will not be written on his death certificate. His loneliness coupled with stress - could trigger a cardiac arrest.

MEDICAL STUDY

According to medical study, loneliness is a major risk factor for emotional and physical disorders that may lead to early death. Chronic loneliness is the feeling of isolation and disconnectedness from others - EVEN if you are NOT PHYSICALLY isolated from others. Doctors said it cause physical illness such as heart disease, elevated blood pressure, irregularity of sleep patterns (tend to wake many times during the night), abnormal levels of stress, and the person generally lack the ability to repair tissue.

LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST

You don’t know when and how you will die. Life is too short. That’s why you have to live your life to the fullest. Enjoy what God has given you. Don’t take your life so serious, sometimes you have to be funny and make others laugh. You must smile and be happy no matter what the circumstances are. Every single time that you spent being unhappy is wasted. We cannot afford to waste time anymore. Time is gold. We've got so many things to do. We are running out of time. Make every day to be an opportunity to make a new happy ending. Make your life a worth living.

YOUR LEGACY

Everyone will depart from this earth, that’s the sad truth - but what is your legacy when you depart? What have you accomplished in this life? What is your contribution to the betterment of the human society? Some will say: I was able to build my dream house, or I was able to send my kids or my relatives to school and finished their college. We often heard parents saying "Son study very hard, education is the only legacy I will leave to you which cannot be taken away from you". Sure, that’s a great legacy! Congratulation, I salute you. But beyond that, what other accomplishments or contributions have you given to your neighbor, to your community or to your country, or to the whole world? If you will die, how would you like others to remember you? If you become part of any cause-oriented group and contribute something to its progress then, that's a wonderful thing. You are already building your legacy. You're making yourself to be counted - proud to be member or founder or organizer or simply supporter of an advocacy. Some of us are member of NGOs and clubs and foundations. I can see that there are some people here who now become a role model. Congratulation! But if you have not done that, start making the difference today and be counted.

In conclusion, let me leave you a quoatation by Zachary Scott. He said "As you grow older, you'll find the only things you regret are the things you didn't do."

Michael Jackson definitely left a legacy and he will be remember always in the human history. Life is about living, loving, learning, and leaving a legacy...
