Your Journey Ends With Your Legacy
69We are all travelers in this world. We are all walking and running every day unknowingly. We start our daily journey by rising up from our bed and ends by retiring to the same bed. We wake up in the morning and brush our teeth, have a cup of coffee or breakfast and proceed with our daily chores. Even though we have different works, at the end of the day, we are always compelled to answer one question: and that is if we have reached our goal successfully, whether we really finished that day's journey or not with victory.
My uncle is karate black belter. He is really a judo-karate expert plus he has a good knowledge of arnis martial art. I was very young at that time, elementary student, and I really admired him so much. Theoretically, I know a little bit of martial art (with demonstration). But don't be afraid of me now because I am a very loving person, I will not hurt you. Besides in reality my uncle never taught me martial arts. Instead what he taught me is another discipline. I have learned from him a golden rule in life that I never imagined will brought me here at what I am today. He said "You better stay away from trouble, bring the broom stick with you (just in case you cannot avoid it), put on your shoes and run away pretty fast (in worse scenario)". Ever since then, that lesson became part of my life and I start to apply it in my own journey and it was indeed very effective and fruit-bearing. I don't know martial arts but I know how to run. With such discipline, I've finished high school in the province and went straight to main capital to pursuit my college degree, Using the principle my uncle gave me, I learned to make and bring the best out of my life to continue my journey until I become successful in life. So now I have already travelled abroad after my college graduation and become successful. That's a brief summary of my own journey.
Life is a journey or a race. To finish the journey or race we must run a marathon with endurance or walk a walkathon with a cause keeping all the time the rewards in our minds. During your journey, you may get tired, you may collapse or fall. Some may not reach their goal and some may quit their journey even in the very early stage. So let me encourage you not to give up. Never give up at life's challenges. There are ups and downs but what matters is not how many times you fall but how many times you rise. You must stand up again and continue your journey. If you fall 2xs, stand up 2xs. If you fall 3xs, stand up 3xs. If you fall 4xs, stand up 4xs. If you fall 5xs, stand up 5xs. If you fall 6xs, stand up 6xs. If you fall 7xs, stand up 7xs. So forth and so on. Never give up. Stay focus on your goal to be able to reach your desired journey.
Your journey on earth begins when you are born and ends when you die. I believe no one will say I will not die. That's a reality that we should learn to accept. Our physical or biological nature is so limited. Your money will not guaranty that you'll not die. Therefore, you should ask yourself what you are doing now. Are you doing the right things? Is your life worth-living?
At the end of your journey, what matters is your legacy. How people will remember you when you are gone from this earth. How you live your life will be remember by people. If you are a bad guy, people will say thank God he's dead because he's a terrible guy. And people will cry out loud at your funeral if you left them with millions of debt and you didn't pay them before you die. So tell me how do you want to remember? Do you want to be remembered like Michael Jackson as king of pop music who left his musical legacy? Or do you want to be remembered as Cory Aquino who became an icon of Philippines's democracy?
As for me, I want to finish my journey with pride, with contribution to the human society. As much as possible I want to inspire every individual, make them smile and happy, and teach them that life is not bad at all. I will actively participate in nation building, in my community, and in my family for a better world. That will be my legacy.
Remember your journey ends with your legacy.
